I'm meeting a lot of new people right now! That being the case, keep in mind that this is a good website, but it is perhaps not quite representative of me by now. I'm working on a new one.

This homepage is meant to convey my self-image (as of 1/12/26). If you're here for ideas, here’s a list of my essays, along with my Inktober 2026 writing. Or just explore the site! With that out of the way, let’s talk about me! Describing a person by what they do is a very common category error. I could tell you I’m quite decent at chess, or that I quit magic in 2019. But that doesn’t really tell much about who I am.

There are a few heuristics that are probably not so bad, but for the most part identity is something you have to intuit.

So I'll say a few miscellaneous tidbits, and leave the rest to you.

A few things I like:

• Math (all topology, most algebra up to algebraic geometry, also the other stuff I guess)
• Philosophy (ethics, aesthetics, linguistics, logic, anything but politics)
• Idealism, I guess?
• Absurdist fiction
• Photography
• Worldviews
• Friendly debate
• Getting off buses at places I should not
• Talking to strangers
• Abusing English
• The cold
• Sadness (any strong emotion, really)
• Short walks to the lake
• Italics
• Tangents (on circles and in essays)
• Em-dashes
• Climbing
• Getting a little bit lost
• Taking a peek around the edge of existence
• 112 hour work weeks
• Ranked Terraforming Mars
• Measure theoretic interpretations of logical philosophy, useless though it may be (credit to Oak)
• Cold showers

A few things I don't like:

• Cold showers
• Definitions (ew)
• The Sequences (and Eliezer in general)
• Epistemic pedantism (the half of LessWrong that don't understand the point of LW, I'm looking at you)
• Myself one year ago (may this always stay true)
• Parties
• Ceviche
• Early buses

Miscellaneous fun facts:

• The artforms I appreciate most are music, photography, poetry, and literature (film is cool too)
• My favorite place is Ocean Beach in San Francisco, specifically north of the fire pits. There's a little bench of sand you can sit on and look out at the sunset.
• I strongly believe you should do things. Obviously that isn’t very specific — the rat term is “being agentic.”
• I find worldviews really cool! You can learn a lot (I would argue almost everything) about a person from how they see the world. And well-thought people are usually really fun to learn about! I don’t mean worldviews in the limited political sense, but rather a more literal term meaning “how they see the world” — their sense of aesthetics, core beliefs, driving forces, etc.
• I obviously have specific plans and goals, but my broad intentions are approximately as follows: become (more) cracked at philosophy (referring to the field broadly), become actually cracked at math/cs (instead of quasi-cracked), build/create awesome shit with insane people and live a very satisfactory life. I invite you to rope me into anything that helps with any of these.
• Looking back at this home page a year later, everything I said is close to the truth, but it's more how I present myself than who I am. I could also be depicted as a strange man wandering the world in search of fragments of transcendence. That wouldn't be so wrong.
