“Associative Language” and “Logic Approximation”
Definition
These terms come from a theory of language put forward in Linguistics and clarified (corrected, really) in Linguistic Corrections + LessWrong. Under the assumption that all language is based on experience, they act as two extremes of a spectrum of how one approaches language. Associative Language refers to using words solely (or at least mainly) for their experiential associations (broadly speaking, the intuitive meanings we attach to words — if you want a better definition go read the essays), while Logic Approximation refers to using words (and more broadly, approaching language) so as to minimize the subjective experience — using terms based solely on their definitions and clarifying/creating terms to be as objective as possible.
